Well it has been for a little while now but after graduating Paul and I formed The Odd Gentlemen LLC to continue to work on games that are innovative, humorous, and have distinct style. You can read the company’s statement here at the new Company Website it’s still pretty bare-bones but we are working on it. We changed the Winterbottom blog over to The Odd Gentlemen blog as you can see. Our first commercial game? Well… The Misadventures of P.B. Winterbottom of course. All we can really say right now is that we are working on a new professional version for the downloadable console space and we are very excited about everything. Hopefully we will be able to announce the publisher, platform, and more details soon. We are also still trying to figure out what is the best way to get the student flash version to the public. Thank you to everyone for all the support in taking our student game to the big leagues. Here is a pic of the new team… video of new studio space coming soon.

That’s it for now! Keep checking back to hear about our delicious tidbits of life as a newly formed game development studio. We’ll leave you all with a picture of Vincent eating some pie while awkwardly blinking.
Back in late September we had the opportunity to showcase Winterbottom at Wired Magazine’s NextFest 2008. The event was held in a large tent nestled within Chicago’s beautiful Millennium Park. Along with thatgamecompany’sFlower, we were the only games featured at NextFest which was quite the honor. We spent a great deal of time demoing the game as usual but also took some moments to get to know some of the other exhibitors and, of course, try some Chicago Style Pizza Pie.
Winterbottom was on display within the Entertainment nook of the expo. Lucky for us, this nook happened to be located near the entrance to the tent (and subsequently by the bar on the opening night party) which led to a healthy amount of traffic. Hit the Jump for our Review and pizza-pie…
Winterbottom will be playable at this years E for All as part of the Indiecade festival. I was just down there yesterday and Indiecade is showing a large portion of cool independent games right in the front of the show. The show runs from October 3-5 at the LA Convention Center. Go Indies!
Last Week I was pleasantly surprised to see that Winterbottom had been selected for The first annual Sense of Wonder Night. We are stoked to be included.
“The objective of SOWN 2008 is to unleash on the world new games that can give people a “sense of wonder” a feeling that something will change in their world and make them gasp at the moment they lay eyes on the games or hear the game concepts.”
Also awesome is Winterbottom Alumn Ian Dallas will be presenting his game The Unfinished Swan at SOWN as well. Congrats Ian!
Moreover Kellee Santiago will be at the Tokyo Game Show showing Flower. So it looks like there is going to be USC love all over Japan this October.
I have had the badge up on the tacky Homepage of Trophies for awhile, but Wired has officially announced us in NextFest 2008. Alongside Flower we are the only screen based video game in the festival. NexFest takes place September 27 - October 12, 2008 in Millennium Park, Chicago, and it’s FREE. So if your in the area, we would love for you to come by and play the student version of the game. I will be there with Paul and Kellee Santiago opening weekend.
Many people have asked about the music in Winterbottom so here it is…
We were very lucky to meet David Stanton while in school. The guy basically was a god send. I told him one note… “It should sound like Edward Gorey made a silent Film.” He looked at early concept art and went to town. Here is the music from the student game, enjoy :)
Wow, were honored and grateful to even be considered for these awards as a unsigned student game made in FLASH. I never imagined in a million years that my thesis project would be competing with such heavy hitters as Spore, Prince of Persia, and Mirror’s Edge. I guess it just goes to show how far student and indie games have come. Special Congrats goes to Jonathan Blow for his award, and special thanks to Indiecade for bringing us to E3.
